I’m a Pennsylvania artist working across painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art. My work is rooted in curiosity about materials, old things, strange juxtapositions, and the stories that seem to emerge when seemingly unrelated ideas collide.

I create richly layered, slightly off-kilter worlds inhabited by characters (animals and other figures) who seem to have arrived in the middle of something. I’m interested creating the feeling that a story exists just beyond what we can see.

Whimsy has always been part of my visual language, but I’m especially interested in what happens when we take it seriously. I want to make work that is playful without being shallow, beautiful without being merely decorative, and mysterious without becoming inaccessible. Curiosity, wonder, humor, tension, and a little visual excess are all welcome.

My influences wander freely from fables and shaded forests to Japanese screens, Art Deco geometry, fragments of old wallpaper, decorative objects, vintage ornament, and the occasional odd thing I’ve saved because I was certain it would become useful someday. Moving between materials is part of the process. Painting may lead to sculpture, sculpture to printmaking, and a scrap from a drawer may become the beginning of an entire piece.

I earned a B.A. in Art History from Penn State and an M.A. in Art History from the University of Maryland. That background still shapes the way I look at images, objects, ornament, and the long human impulse to make meaning through beautiful things.

I live and work in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, with my husband and our many, many cats.
