This Art Deco bud vase started with a hollow egg shell that I covered almost entirely with luscious eggplant purple polymer clay topped off with a swag of gilded gold. The influence for the gold faux fabric swag around the top is from Helen Breil’s Shapes e-book.
I left a portion of the egg exposed on the top so that I could add the hole after it was baked. I dyed the interior of the egg purple to match the exterior. The lid is sculpted from polymer as is the base. Antique perfume bottles served as the creative spring board for the design. I finished off the bottom with my signature stamp.
I am going to be entering it in the Polymer Clay Artists Guild of Etsy monthly challenge for April. The theme is containers. Public voting takes place April 1-7. Three lucky voters will be chosen in a drawing to win a gift certificate from one of the sponsors so please be sure to visit http://www.pcagoe.com to cast a vote for your favorites.
And yes ladies (and gentleman), it is for sale. If your heart desires owning this beauty, visit my etsy shop: http://www.YoungCreative.etsy.com

This is such a beautiful piece Marie! …quite possibly my new favorite from you! Wonderful work!
Thank you! I can see a lot of possibilities for little vases by having the opening in the egg.
