Eggs crack. Sometimes that is a good thing.
I was smoothing the green clay on what was supposed to be a bird when I heard a sudden cracking noise. My thumb had just plunged into the hollow egg shell that I was covering. Sometimes when this happens the egg is a lost cause. Sometimes it is the beginning of something better.
In this case, I loved the pattern of the crumbled shell under the surface of the clay. So I cured it and went from there. A dragon’s egg emerged from the “mistake.” I sculpted the little guy that I affectionately refer to as “Crispers” to complete the scene.
Crispers is available for adoption in my new Gothic/Halloween-themed shop BlackCatVictoriana on Etsy.
