Look at the playful hand gestures of the raccoons on my Pinterest “Critters” board. Aren’t they adorable! I can’t help but see “Jazz Hands,” and you know me, when one of those stray thoughts pops into my head, there is a good chance that a sculpture will result.
Jazz Hands: The Project
I had a small shadow box that I thought would make the perfect frame for a little raccoon so I sculpted the little guy to fit inside. For the background I stamped a sheet music design on a clay sheet highlighted with gold mica powders.
The frame has a sculpted swirl in purple verdigris. I repeated the sheet music stamp in gold along the black sides.
This is also the first project where I made my own glass eyes.
He’s so cute – and you are so creative! I mean, look at the personality in him, it’s just awesome.
I’m so impressed that you made your own glass eyes, I’m going to try to find out more on your links, sounds like fun.
I just LOVE him Marie, you are an incredible sculptor and they are made all the more special by the stories that go with him. Jazz Hands is a perfect name!!
