Lately I’ve been enjoying working on some fun wall art for you animal lovers. This sweet raccoon gal is the star of my latest creation: a small mixed media piece called Jazz Hands No. 2. I call her Daisy and she is famous for flashing her Jazz Hands on the dance floor.
I shared some in progress shots earlier (see them here).

Story behind the work:
This piece features a sweet raccoon named Daisy with her sleek black-gloved paws in that famous “Jazz Hands” pose. I love Gatsby-style and raccoons, so why not put the two themes together in one Roaring 20s style scene?
Daisy was sculpted from polymer clay using my two hands so no mold of her exists. That makes her really special.
I like to mix translucent clay into my base to create a soft waxy sheen that is different from the usual feel of polymer works. Most of the color comes from custom-blending the polymer itself. I use very little paint.
